SERVICES
Urish Popeck is a full service accounting and consulting firm, offering assurance, tax, and financial advisory services, including for personal financial planning and wealth preservation. Our service offerings are backed by industry-specific experience in real estate, construction, manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, professional services, and nonprofit organizations. Our services are delivered with a high level of responsive attention from our partners and senior staff, the type of attention typically associated with local firms. Yet we have the reach of a national organization, and our services are scaleable and available “on demand.” We support clients of varying sizes, and rapid growth clients can't out grow us. We provide services for each stage of the business life cycle, including public offerings. |
Quality Assurance
|
Urish Popeck is committed to delivering independent, efficient, effective and comprehensive audits. We provide quality assurance services to help ensure that our clients' financial statements meet the regulatory and business requirements under which they function. Our professionals are highly sensitized to the need to maintain objectivity and independence. Audits are led by partners who are heavily involved in the engagements, and staffed by individuals with the appropriate level of skill and knowledge of our clients' businesses. We recognize the benefits of a planned, proactive approach, and identify possible areas of risk that might require special attention. This advanced planning also typically results in an efficient audit process. While the SEC rules adopted to implement the Sarbanes-Oxley Act restrict auditors from performing certain services to their publicly held audit clients, Urish Popeck can provide a variety of value-added services to public companies we do not audit, including financial advisory and consulting services. Public companies, in particular, have always been faced with the daunting task of understanding the complex volume of SEC rules and numerous unpublished positions. This has been magnified significantly with the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and related SEC rulemaking. We actively work with our clients to assist them with these new rules. This assistance includes technical presentations to management and audit committees, compliance and governance assessments, and technical training for audit committee members. We can help companies form and maintain effective audit committees and set appropriate agendas for their ongoing activities. |
SEC Capabilities
|
As a registrant with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, Urish Popeck is authorized to audit publicly-traded clients. Additionally, our professionals work on various public company audit engagements where the auditor of record is our Alliance partner BDO Seidman. This structure enables us to serve public companies of varying sizes, and to support rapid growth private companies at each stage of the business life cycle, including a public offering. Nationally, BDO Seidman currently serves approximately 300 domestic publicly traded clients and over 100 international publicly traded entities, a number of which are New York Stock Exchange companies. BDO has assisted many of these entities not only with their ongoing SEC filings, but also with their initial public offerings. BDO has also assisted these and many other clients with private placements. BDO's National SEC Director worked for the SEC for two years as a Professional Accounting Fellow. The National SEC Department maintains a constructive working relationship with the SEC staff, closely monitoring changes in reporting requirements and keeping engagement personnel informed of changes. The department also devotes significant personal attention to client filings to ensure that clients receive the benefits of their extensive experience and knowledge. Over the past several years, BDO clients have completed more than 40 public and private offerings. Proceeds from these offerings were near $5 billion. (Five of these offerings were IPOs of which the total proceeds were approximately $5.25 million.) The smallest offering was $2.1 million and the largest was $805 million. Each received the same meticulous attention. |

About AICPA Peer Review The AICPA Peer Review Program is an AICPA-approved practice-monitoring program, which requires that participating firms submit to a rigorous and independent review of their accounting and auditing practices every three years. The objective of AICPA peer review is to determine whether a CPA firm has established suitable quality control policies and procedures and is complying with them. Our firm performs peer review services for other accounting firms. In order to be eligible to perform peer reviews a firm must receive unqualified opinions on its own practice and have attended periodic peer review training. Peer review is a tri-annual outside review, performed by another accounting firm, of a firm’s quality control system in accounting and/or auditing. Peer reviews intend to maintain and improve the quality of the accounting and/or auditing services performed by firms. AICPA Peer Review Program: https://www.aicpa.org/members/div/practmon/index.htm |
